Cook Island Language Week

Today, room 7 and 8 students got a visit from Cook Islanders. The Cook Islanders were from the Auckland Museum and they came to talk about their culture. Today I learn’t a lot of new things from my own culture as I am a Cook Islander. I learn’t that you could make a string with the coconut husks. The other thing I learn’t was that, instead of using a drill to make a hole through a piece of wood, they made their own special drill with only using hard sticks and ropes. Also the last thing that I learnt was that the coconut tree is the tree of life. I was mostly interested in how they made the vaka.
