Metaphors

WALT: match metaphors with their meaning in sports and nonsport activities

Yesterday, the whole class had to get into groups of threes. Next, each group got handed a piece of paper with the meaning of that metaphor. The people in the target writing group, already tried it the previous day so, the people in the writing group, had to sit back and watch them until they were finished. Once they finished the activiti, one person from the writing group had to check it and see if it was right. This activity was fun because in my writing I used one metaphor from the activiti.

Muffin patterns

WALT: Study patterns  in Algebra

For the past 3 weeks, the whole class has been studying about patterns in algebra. Yesterday, the whole class had a competition on decorating the best pattern on our cupcakes. We only had to choose two fruits and three elements. I found this competition easy because I like creating my own patterns. This competition was fun because I created the best pattern. What I want to revise is perimeter and area.

My inspiration

Walt: discuss a goal with Dreydon and Kate

On Tuesday, we had two visitors. Their names were Dreydon and Kate. Kate is an author and, Dreydon is one who walked the 80 km with his work mates. They were going on the 80 km walk to fundraise  for Glen Innes School, St Pius School and also Adult Literacy.

The things that they need for the walk was a camel back bag to put their things or supplies in. The things that they had to bring was a waterproof jacket, a warm jacket or clothing, food, and water. The things that were provided for them was a headlight torch or two and a beacon, just in case someone injured themselves while walking.

Dreydon and his mates goal was to finish the 80 km walk under 24 hours. Also there other goal was to be S.M.A.R.T when they go for the walk. Smart stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time bound. Dreydon and his work mates had to walk throughout the day and night. While Dryden's work mates were walking, some of his work mates had drop out of the walk because a few were injured.

Dreydon’s presentation goal inspired me to achieve my goal that I have now, because he said to us all, to practise, practise and practise until you've achieved your goal. To me, Dreydon has been a good egg for doing the walk for us and for fundraising money for the two schools and the Adult Literacy.
