Attributes

Walt: write collaboratively.

Purpose: To improve my behaviour to make me more acceptable in society.

Success Criteria: 1. Start the paragraph with a topic sentence.
                            2. Use a variety of sentences. ( simple, compound, complex)

While planting fruit trees at school three friends find an old dirty lamp. They decided to wipe the dirt off the lamp when suddenly a genie appeared and promised to grant them three wishes. Each friend was allowed one wish.

Caring
Standing up for each other, helping people,
Responsibility
Taking care of little children.and many more

Ketura
In our group we all had to choose one attribute that represented us. We all had very good choices and out of those choices we had to write one paragraph each. These are all our paragraphs that we wrote.

If I had one wish and I had to use it, it will be caring. The reason why I want to be caring is so that I can help the homeless on the streets in Glen Innes when they need something. I have chosen caring in Glen Innes school so I can help others when they are depressed and when they have nobody to play with. Lastly caring at home would be like caring at school and also caring on the streets. For example if my brother was crying and alone then I would go to him and then make him transform into happiness.  If I were to work on something it would be caring for other people on the streets at home or even at home.

Lauren
The Attribute I wish for is Loyalty. I’m always loyal to my friends because I stand up for them, Help them and is always understanding. I am loyal to all people, classmates and even adults. At home my brothers are loyal to me and I’m loyal to them. Also at school I’m loyal to the teachers, relievers, guest, principal and people I’ve never met before. To improve I will try not to be as bossy as I am and try to listen to what the person is saying to me not pretending to listen and not know what they're talking about.

I have chose Responsibility.I have chosen Responsibility as my attribute. As I have been doing is looking after my little sister. That is how I can achive my goal as responsibililty.
If a teacher told me to take care of one of the little children in a lower grade then i will do it.I would have responsibility over the child
I need to work on how to show responsibility in front of the other little kids and start standing up for people who are not doing the right thing.

In our group we have all chosen what we are all good at. We have written a few examples of how we have used our attributes.

Making a chain

Making a chain

WALT: 1) write a recount
           2) integrate maths and writing

On Monday, the whole class had to work in groups of two’s for maths. The person that I worked with was Serena. After we got in our pair we had to get two different coloured A5 papers.
IMG_4074.JPG
First after we got our papers, we had to estimate on how long our chain would be. Then we had a discussion about the strategy on how to make our chain the longest.

Next, we measured the width of our strips. After measuring the width I had to cut them out and while I was cutting out the strips I had to glue the at the same time too.
FullSizeRender (1).jpg
Thereafter when we finished making our chain, we had to measure it with a one meter ruler. When Serena and I measured our chain we had 220cm.

Finally when everyone had finished making there chain, we recorded how long our chains were.

Ben and Dion has the shortest chain because they cut their strips into big thick pieces. Villiami and Howard has the longest chain in class because they cutted their two A5 papers into small strips so it could be the longest.

Double Bar Graph

bargraph.PNG
WALT: create a double bar graph

Today in the morning our teacher collected the information on who watched the game and who didn’t watched the game on a Sunday morning. The data was about the rugby world cup finals. In our class 15 out of 25 people watched the game, and 10 out of 25 people did not watched the game. Last Friday in the afternoon we predicted our scores on what the points would be. I think that few of the people didn't watch the rugby world cup because they don't have sky. The closest score that was called was 32 points for the All Blacks and 17 for the Australians by Robin.

WALT: writing a reflection on my basic facts results

In my last basic facts test I had 576 but now my score is 572 which means I have dropped down. The reason why I have dropped down was because I was working slow and had no time to finish my test. My next learning steps would be learning greater than, less than and equal

Deci - mats

100's.PNG1000's.PNG
10's.PNG

WALT: understand place value of decimals using a deci - mat

1 whole is divided into tenths
1 whole is divided into hundredths
1 whole is divided into thousandths

In the tenths deci-mat sheet, the red represents four tenths because Shanelle rolled the dice and she got 4/10 then I coloured it in. In the hundredths deci-mat, the dark green represents one one hundredths. Lastly in the thousandths deci-mat, the green one represents three hundredths over one thousandths. I coloured in that amount because our teacher told us to figure out three hundredths over one thousandths. So then I figured it out and then coloured it in.

To me this game was challenging because sometimes I colour in the wrong amount that I have to colour in the wrong deci-mat sheet.

My next learning will be percentages.

Hockey

Today we were practicing how to play hockey with Lydia. Today we played some games and one of my favourite ones were the traffic light game. When we started warming up she gave us rules about how to use the hockey stick when playing hockey and the rules were.

  • Keep your hockey stick below your knees
  • Don’t wave the hockey stick in the air
  • Use the flat side of the hockey stick to hit the ball
  • Bend your knees so you can move the ball and your back won't get sore

Apples

Apples

In the long boring weekend it was a very hot day. During that day, I sprinted outside to check my apple tree I planted outside last year. At the backyard my apple tree was there. When I checked them they were ready to get bit into. I picked a couple of the dark red ones and took them inside to be rins. After rinsing the apples they got put in the cold frieg.

When I took the apples out they looked a lot shiner when I picked them. When I bit through the dark red apple it was a bit crunchy. The apple was white on the inside and the apple was red on the outside for the coating. After biting the apple there were some apple juice coming out of the the part I bit through. When I tasted the dark red apple it tasted crunchy and juicy. Then my brothers grabbed one and bit through it. When they bit through it I could hear the crunchy ness.

Minutes later the dark red, crunchy, watery apples were all eaten by my brothers.

Fighting For The Land

WALT: create a Maori Myth (narrative)
Walt: Write an impactful introduction to our Maori myth

“Summer, Spring, and Autumn are gone past.” Says Tim the twin. On a Winter season, Tim and Jill the Maori Twins had a dad that passed away in a island called Te Ika A Maui where there was a God, and also where Tim and Jill’s villagers were living. The twins took over his place as the chief. As leaders of the villagers and the island they have to make sure each and everyone of the villagers were safe.

The God that had lived there since he was little he had white hair, white clothes, that always walks with a stick, and also when he gets angry he turns things and people into ice forever.

Sometimes during spring, there was always a problem where the twins’ dad couldn’t fix. Every winter, the God had always came to the villagers house and he froze them. The reason why the God had always came to the villagers house is because, the chief and their people were in the wrong island.

Few weeks later, the winter God came and told them to get out of his island. Then Jim the chief yelled “,No We Won’t Go.” After that the winter God got angry then he yelled out to them with anger “,By The Time I Come Back You Are Gone.” When the winter God was walking back home, the chiefs and their people were having a meeting about what to do to get rid of the winter God.

Hours later the winter God was making his way and also getting ready to freeze as much  villagers he can. When the God got to the village, he peeked at where the villagers where at. Then he saw the people and the villagers getting ready to battle with the winter God.

After the God, the chief and the villagers were ready to fight for the island, Tim and Jim yelled out to all the villagers and said “Let’s Go.” An hour later all the villagers were frozen because the winter Gods powers, and the God was slade to the ground and there were ice everywhere, but the only ones that were alive were Tim and Jim. After everything was all done they went and had a long sleep.
